CEF My Path Case Study
Overview
City Electrical Factors (CEF) are a leading electrical wholesaler with 390 branches throughout the UK and Ireland. In 2022 CEF selected Dove Nest as their development and delivery partner for the roll out of a development initiative, ‘My Path’, for all Branch Managers.
The initial requirement was to support the development of the programme framework, followed by design and delivery of face-to-face introductory sessions to all Branch Managers, in 37 regional groups.
Challenges
The My Path is a focused one day workshop that is currently been delivered to 390 Branch Managers and covers the following three areas:
- Developing a bespoke Leadership Framework with behavioural indicators to underpin the programme.
- Designing an introductory workshop that engaged Branch Managers in a process that they are unfamiliar with and potentially sceptical, laying the foundations for a successful launch.
Approach
- The Leadership Framework was designed in conjunction with CEF’s Director of People, Culture and Talent and the Group Managers, capturing the essential behaviours of Branch Managers and clustering them into three core pillars, Leading your Self; Leading your People; Leading your Business.
- A team of Dove Nest facilitators worked with the People, Culture and Talent team to create behavioural descriptors that would enable Branch Managers to self-select areas for development.
- Dove Nest facilitators visited CEF branches to get an understanding of the BM’s role and the challenges they face.
- The introductory session was designed and rolled out across UK and Ireland over a 10-week period.
Outcomes
CEF were delighted with the results of the first phase of the programme, with areas of development identified for each Branch Manager against the CEF Leadership Framework, enabling each manager to begin engaging in a personalised development programme using bite-sized learning developed internally.
Following programme launch, Dove Nest have been engaged to deliver four subsequent workshops, focusing on a deeper dive into all 15 behaviours, followed by Coaching and Feedback; Managing Talent and Motivating Individuals; and Leading Culture.
In December 2024 the ‘My Path’ programme won the Electrical Wholesaler Award for Best Training Provider.
