Dove Nest Group

Since the start of the year I have spent a lot of nights away from home. I have a need to try and lose some weight as a result. Last week my colleagues Jenny, Gordon and I went for dinner in London at one of the Italian chain restaurants and very nice it was too.

I enjoyed a salad for my main course but inevitably still had room to fill. I decided to opt for the ‘mini dessert’ which was not an exaggeration as it turned out to hardly cover the base of a spoon and disappeared in one mouthful leaving me still rather unsatisfied. However, I exercised good impulse control and resisted the temptation to go back for more. Pretty impressive I thought.

Why am I telling you all this? To make the point that changing habits and behaviours can take a long time but it helps if there’s an internal motivation to want to do something different.
