Crosthwaite Mill is a fantastic retreat away from all the hussle and bussle of your everyday work life. You will find it in a perfect location to help you to learn, develop, re-energise and re-focus.
This preserved 18th century corn mill sits within its own riverside grounds in the secluded Lyth Valley and provides an intimate location for sole-occupancy groups. The Old Corn Mill gains its name from the amazing feature it still retains. Among the many original features it includes the huge waterwheel and grindstones giving this site a truly unique feel.

From the South
Leave the M6 at Exit 36. Take the left-hand lane off the slip road signposted “South Lakes, Kendal, Barrow A591” *and after 3 miles take the slip road signposted “Barrow, Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway A590”. Turn left at the roundabout. Continue along the A590 and after about 3 miles take the right turn (across the dual carriageway – take care) signposted “Bowness on Windermere A5074” (There is a garage on the right-hand side of this junction).
Follow the A5074 for approximately 4 miles, passing the Lyth Valley Hotel on your right. Ignore the first right turn signposted “Crosthwaite”, but take the next lane to the right (actually a very minor crossroads). This lane is signposted as unsuitable for large vehicles and also has a sign stating Dove Nest Group.
Crosthwaite Mill is 400 yards down the lane, on the right-hand side. The car park is before the Mill and signposted on the right.
From the North
Leave the M6 at Exit 36. Turn right at the roundabout onto the A590 signposted “South Lakes, Kendal, Barrow A591” then proceed as above.*
Approximately only 2 and a half hours from London Euston by train. If travelling by train arrive at Oxenholme Station. A taxi rank is situated outside the station and will take approximately 15 minutes to Dove Nest.
